| Court acquits former Deputy Director Employment as Crime Branch fails to establish case against accused | | | | Jammu :- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Puneet Gupta acquitted one Rashid Shah then Deputy Director Employment Kathua who was allegedly involved in a case getting money from job seekers, as Crime Branch has not been able prove its case against the accused beyond shadow of doubt.
According to case against the accused is that a promise was held out to the applicants-job seekers that the accused would get employment for them in case they pay money to him. The accused is alleged to have informed the victims that he has good relations with the Govt and with Director General of Fire Service. The job seeker are alleged to have made payment to the tune of Rs 95000/- to the accused who was serving as Deputy Director Employment at Kathua at the relevant time but never got the jobs. It appears that one Madan Lal and ors approached the VOJ and Crime Branch for redressal of their grievances and even wrote to the Chief Minister for the alleged cheating that was committed by the accused. The complaint was given to IGP Crime & Railways and which was endorsed on October 13, 2005 resulting into registration of FIR No 37/2007 dated July 19, 2007, prior to registration of the case. | | Lok-Adalat awards more than 27 lacs as compensation | | | | Jammu, MAY-24-2013: A Mega LokAdalat was organised under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge Kathua Mr. MK Hanjura at the District Headquarter and in the Tehsil Headquarters of District Kathua on the dates spreading from 15th to 21st of May 2013. Mega LokAdalat was held on the 20th of May 2013 at Kathua. MACT cases and Bank cases were taken up for amicable settlement. Sixteen MACT cases were disposed of and compensation to the tune of Rupees 27,14000/- was awarded to the claimants. Similarly 3 civil cases were amicably settled at the pre-litigation stage. The bench comprised of Sh. M.K.Hanjura, Pr. District & Sessions Judge Kathua and Sh. S.C.Katal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua. A bench comprising the Mobile Magistrate Kathua and MunsiffKathua was constituted to deal with criminal cases and cases u/s 488 CR.P.C. The bench decided 11 cases. A Lok Adalat was held in the Court premises of Munsiff Hiranager on 16.5.2013. Two civil and 13 criminal cases, ( 15 cases) in total were settled by this LokAdalat. The petitioners have acquired qualifications of 3 yrs diploma un Engineering and eligible for their promotions as JE Grade-II in PHE Dept.

| | Court awards five yrs RI to husband, acquits in-laws from dowry death case after 14 yrs | | | | Jammu, MAY-21-2013 : 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Mr. YP Bourney today awarded five yrs rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 30,000 to Vinod Kumar in abetment to suicide case and acquitted father-in-law, Mother-in-law, sisters-in-law from the charges leveled against them.
According to the prosecution case that on August 12, 1999 information was received from PCR Jammu that a lady namely Anju Sharma w/o Vinod Kumar was admitted in GMC having consumed some poisonous substance. On this information one ASI deputed, however, by the time he reached the lady had expired. Since, it was a case of unnatural death of a young bride under suspicious circumstances within one year of her marriage, so proceedings u/s 174 CrPC were initiated. However, on the same day at about 9:00 PM Madan Lal father of deceased lodged a written report that his daughter got married to the accused about a year earlier. That two three months after their marriage, Vinod Kumar her husband, her mother-in-law Tripta Devi, her Sister-in-law Vijay Kumari and father-in-law Yashpal started harassing the deceased for having not brought adequate dowry, more particularly scooter and colour TV.
