Anisha Ambrose: Back in action

29/07/2016

Anisha Ambrose is in a happy space right now. After five disastrous films, her Kannada release Karva is doing well and she had shot for Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s Manamantha in Telugu. Now she had signed Raj Tarun-starrer to be produced by AK Entertainments. She was the centre of attention last year when her name for Sardar Gabbar Singh was announced but eventually she was dropped from the project. “When I met Pawan Kalyan I didn’t know what role they were calling me for, but I was told not to sign other films. Sometimes bad publicity works out for your good,” she says.
Talking of her film choices, Anisha says, “In Karva, my character was a fusion of a good and bad traits, it had different shades to it. I didn’t know a word of Kannada, but it was never a problem. Same with Telugu. The diction is easy to grasp. Run was a remake of Neram from Tamil, it fetched good reviews but it didn’t do well in the theatres. Manamantha is releasing in three languages simultaneously.” Anisha says that Yeleti’s film went to the sets last year itself. By the time she gave her audition, they had begun shooting with Mohanlal and Gautami and her part was shot in May. She is thoroughly happy to be a part of such a prestigious project, “It was several months after the audition I heard from them. I thought I wasn’t selected. My story was completely separate and I had no interaction with them (Mohanlal and Gautami) unfortunately. I came back with lot of good memories though. The director is a perfectionist; he didn’t want dramatic gestures and dialogues. He didn’t want any make up either. He stuck to what his vision was. That was a bit of challenge. Most of the songs in the film are montages and there are no dances. I really wished I had one,” she avers.
