Kavinder takes stock of flood damages in Jammu

JAMMU, July 28: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today visited flood affected areas of Jammu to assess the damage caused to private and public property in the backdrop of heavy downpour and flash floods. The Speaker was accompanied by senior functionaries of Jammu Municipal Corporation and other concerned departments. He also met the families of two girls who died in flashfloods yesterday. The speaker expressed grief and sorrow over the tragedy.
The Speaker visited Excelsior Lane, Janipur, Lakar Mandi, Power House, Disco Road, Nanak Nagar and other adjoining areas where many houses and shops have been partially and fully damaged due to the flashfloods. He also took stock of damages of lanes, drains and other public property due to these rains.
Gupta interacted with the affected families and assured them that the district administration is working tirelessly to ensure that all flood affected people may get immediate relief and they are rehabilitated. He said that the priority is being given to restoration of civic services and repair of public assets. The Speaker directed the concerned authorities to further gear up their men and machinery to speed up the pace of restoration and repair works and complete these within shortest possible time so that the people may not face any problem during monsoon season.
