JAMMU, Feb 17: A meeting of Channi Himmat Residents Association was held under the chairmanship of V.K.Grover in which the members expressed grave concern and anguish over poor and dilapidated condition of most of the roads in the colony which have been left untouched despite numerous representations made to the authorities concerned.
The road appearing in appended picture has been lying in this condition for more than two years now exposing the residents to accidents causing grievous bodily injuries. Even minor repairs are not being executed For several years in the past, roads in the colony have been left neglected and no steps have been taken to repair them.
Condition of inner roads in the colony is worse than those in rural areas.
Residents have been demanding immediate repairs. There is hardly a road that is not pot-holed making traffic and walker's hazards. Why has this happened and why the Government is not bestirred on this count. After all good roads are a clear sign of good administration. People are sore over hollow slogan of development without signs of execution.
Participants in the meeting resolved to again appealled to local MLA and speaker of State Legislative Assembly Mr. Kavinder Gupta; PWD Minister & Housing and Urban Development Minister to issue appropriate instructions to concerned authorities for immediate repair of roads so that sufferings of the residents are mitigated.
