Don’t be fooled by BJP’s ‘hollow promises’, ‘political gimmicks’: Bhalla

JAMMU, Feb 17: Continuing his mass contact programme to listen to the grievances of different areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today reached Narwal Bala area of constituency where locals highlighted their grievances including irregular supply of all the basic amenities like drinking water supply, poor delivery of ration items, worst condition of roads, no maintenance of lanes/drains and lacks of developmental activities in the area since the coming of BJP-PDP coalition Govt in state 2 years back.
Expressing concern over non-availability of civic amenities to people, Raman Bhalla, former minister and vice-president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), today asked the government to give priority to solving the problems of the common masses. He said that the State is passing through difficult times with self seekers and anti-people elements taking centre-stage and therefore a duty has cast upon all to change the discourse under the banner of Congress and help in steering Jammu and Kashmir to political stability.Bhalla said the people have right to know as to what happened to the promises made by the BJP for more than six decades to grant citizenship to the West Pakistan refugees, sealing the borders to check any sort of infiltration and crush the militancy by strengthening the security.
Asserting that the State Government failed to provide basic amenities to the people Bhalla said it was unfortunate that people were being subjected to immense suffering by failing to provide them requisite succour to the deserving people. Pointing out inadequacies in implementation of the much-hyped Jammu and Kashmir Public Services Guarantee Act, 2011, he urged the government to consider initiatives for avoiding delay in delivery of services provided by government departments under the Act. The government has failed to ensure delivery at the basic levels like availability of ration, power, health, education sector & unemployment besides affected people and the farmers.
The employees of different categories including teachers, daily wagers, casual and need based workers and other such categories of people are regularly seen on protests for their just and genuine demands.He said adding that no development work has taken place for the past several months by any of the government department and the general public was facing great hardships for want of civic facilities. He sought to draw the attention of the Govt towards these problems of people.
