Seven days police remand of Crorepati Forest Guard

JAMMU, Feb 17: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjeev Gupta today granted seven days police remand of Kewal Sharma a Crorepati Forest Guard who ammased huge property during his posting as Additional PRO to Ex-Deputy CM.
Today Accused Kewal Sharma S/O Gian Chand Sharma R/O Kachrial, Tehsil Khour at present Patta Paloura, Near Petrol Pump, Jammu has been produced in custody by Dy.S.P H.L.Dhar of VOJ for seeking remand in case FIR No. 32/2015 of VOJ for the offence u/s 5(1) (e) r/w 5(2) of P.C.Act 2006. It has been submitted in the remand application that accused had amassed assets worth crores of rupees of property in the shape of residential houses in and outside the State besides commercial and luxury vehicles which are disproportionate to his income. It is further alleged that accused has also managed to open bank accounts on fake documents and deposited crores of rupees in those fake accounts and the money has been utilized for raising of assets.
It is also alleged that the accused is not cooperating with the investigation and to unearth the facts with regard to raising of huge assets mentioned above, the custodial interrogation of the accused is required.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjeev Gupta after gone through the remand application as well as the CD file and observed that keeping in view the fact that accused is a Forest Guard who has allegedly raised huge assets disproportionate to his income, the prayer of the I.O for police remand of the accused is accepted and accused is remanded to police custody for a period of 07 days with the direction that accused shall be medically examined after every 24 hours. In case any medical assistance is required by the accused same shall be provided to him from the concerned doctor/s. JNF
