28/03/2017

JAMMU, Mar 27: Spearheading the campaign for restoration of voting rights to the aggrieved members, Daljeet Singh Manhas, President Young Lawyers Association along with Vice-President Pardeep Majotra, Manpreet Singh and Vishal Tandon Advocates visited Samba Bar Association and appealed to all the members of the Association to support their cause for restoration of Voting Right to the members of JKHCBA Jammu who have been denied this right illegally and without providing them an opportunity of being heard. This was stated in a press release issued by Y.L.A President.
Relevant here to mention is that the constitution of Bar Association Jammu (now known as JKHCBA Jammu) envisages the voting rights to all the members of the Association who have been enrolled as a member till the date of issue of the Election Notification. In this view of the matter every advocate enrolled as a member of JKHCBA, Jammu till 03/03/2017 is eligible/entitled to vote in the ensuing Bar Election to be held on 12/04/2017. Unfortunately without any agenda item or deliberation in the meeting more than 400 members enrolled from 01/01/2016 to 03/03/2017 have been deprived from right to vote which is totally arbitrary and illegal he said.
The team of Young Lawyers Association headed by its President along with Mr. Pushpinder Singh Manhas and Pardeep Majotra and others visited Udhampur Bar Association on 21st March, 2017 and held a meeting in which they got the overwhelming support of the members of Udhampur Bar Association thereby voicing their concern against illegal denial of their right to vote - which in a democratic system is a fundamental right. On this occasion Mr. Surinder Khajuria President of Udhampur Bar Association also addressed the meeting.
Today while holding meeting in Samba Bar Association, Mr. Manhas appealed to all the members to join hands and fight against the injustice meted out to the aggrieved members of JKHCBA, Jammu and extend their support in restoration of Voting Right to the aggrieved members. In the meeting besides Mr. Manhas others who spoke on the occasion were Mr. Mandeep Sambyal, Rajesh Bhagat, Pardeep Majotra, Vishal Tandon and Manpreet Singh. Each speaker supported the cause of aggrieved members and appealed to the President JKHCBA, Jammu to restore their voting rights.
