Sanjay, Hanjura, Shukla likely to be appointed Judges of J&K High Court

Jammu, May 26: Much awaited recommendation of J&K High Court which was cleared by the Supreme Court Collegium on April 10, 2017 has got through, Now notification of three new High Court Judges namely Adv SK Shukla, District & Sessions Judge MK Hanjura and District & Sessions Judge Sanjay Gupta has been issued and warrants are likely to be issued in few days.
It is pertinent to mention here that M K Hanjura is presently serving as Presiding Officer of Food Safety Appellate Tribunal. Earlier, he had also been appointed as Member (J) of National Company Law Tribunal.
Sanjay Kumar Gupta is presently serving as Principal District and Session Judge Jammu while as Advocate S K Shukla has been practicing in High Court for the past several years.
The sanctioned strength of the J&K High Court is 17 Judges including Chief Justice, but presently there are only nine Judges. These included Justice R Sudhakar, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Justice Alok Aradhe, Justice Ali Mohd Magrey, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal and Justice Bawa Singh Walia besides Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed. With the elevation of these three as judge of J&K High Court, the strength will go to 12.
SK Shukla was born on 8th April 1966 in village Nagrota Prehta of Teh. Basohli. Had early education in local Govt School. He did Matriculation from Higher secondary School Basohli in 1981. Obtained Tenth position in matric. Did graduation from Degree college Kathua in 1985 and LLB from Jammu University in first division in 1988. Enrolled Advocate with J&K Bar council in Feb 1989. Remained Govt Adv High Court Srinagar 1992-1993 & 1994-1995. Also worked as Govt Adv in Jammu wing for almost two years. Was sole standing counsel for JKSSB for almost six years. Represented almost all deptts of Govt n PSUs.
MK Hanjura Did his graduation from Government Degree College Bemina in the year 1976. Pursued Law as a subject in the University of Kashmir and completed LLB (Hons) in the year 1979. Practiced Law in the District Courts at Budgam upto the date of his appointment as a Munsiff on 19.01.1987. Was promoted as Sub-Judge in the year 2003. Worked as special Judge Anti Corruption, Jammu Province, Chairman Sales Tax Tribunal J&K, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua during his tenure as District and Sessions Judge. Decided the infamous case relating to Birpur Land Scandal and many others in his capacity as Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu Province and Principal District and Session Judge, Kathua. Worked in all the rungs of the Registry of the High Court of J&K. Served twice as the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. Had the distinction of working as a Registrar in the Supreme Court of India for more than 3 years. Was appointed as member (Judicial) National Company Law Tribunal in the year 2016 and worked as such for six months. Resigned from this post on 20.02.2017 and assumed the charge of the office of the Food Safety Appellate Tribunal, Jammu on 21.02.2017 since when he has been working as such.
Sanjay Gupta presently posted as Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu born on 24.11.1961, did matriculation from Orinental Academy, Jammu, did BSC with full medical subjects from G.GM Science Jammu, did LLB from Jammu University. Joined bar in chamber of SS Lehar Advocate practised in all fields criminal, civil, revenue , MACT in subordinate court and before High Court and was selected as direct recruit in higher judicial service as District and sessions Judge in 2004 and joined as additional District, Judge, Doda, served all District and session courts, including 1st, 2nd,3rd, Additional and Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu. Also remained posted as 3rd and 4th additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Judicial member Special Tribunal, Jammu. One Man Forest Tribunal Jammu and Kashmir, Principal District and Session Judge, Leh, Principal Session Judge Rajouri. JNF
