Veeri for augmenting JK’s power distribution network

SRINAGAR, Jun 20: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today stressed the need for augmentation of power distribution network in the state.
The Minister was speaking at a high level review meeting of various schemes of Power Development Department (PDD) of Anantnag district here.
The meeting was also attended by Development Commissioner Power Asghar Ali, Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) Shahnaz Goni, Sheikh Gul Ayaz Secretary Technical (PDD), Khursheed Ahmed, Nisar Ahmed Khan and Daljeet Singh CE Projects. The meeting was also attended by Xens and AEEs of district Anantnag.
To provide succor from the power cuts in a major way in Bijbehara area, the Minister passed directions for the installation of new 10 MVA transformer at Receiving Station Khiram.
The Minister also impressed on the officers to setup a taskforce of PDD officials equipped with necessary equipments for speedy redressal of grievances regarding power distribution in South Kashmir.
He also asked them to setup a dedicated helpline wherein people can register their grievances and provide it wide publicity in print and electricity media.
Mr Veeri also asked the officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply is provided on auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr. He also stressed on the officers to direct field staff to check the condition of transformers in their respective areas regularly. The Minister impressed on the officers to ensure time bound and early completion of various new schemes and initiatives being taken in the power sector. The Minister also asked officers to synergize efforts for better transmission and distribution of electricity in their respective areas.
