Mehbooba directs release of June salary before Eid

SRINAGAR, Jun 20: Keeping the needs of employees of the State Government in mind, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today directed release of salary for the month of June before Eid ul Fitr which falls next week.
The directions were issued to the Finance Department by the Chief Minister today.
The Chief Minister has also directed that monthly dues be also disbursed among the SSA teachers, contractual and adhoc employees as well before the Eid so that they also can celebrate the festive occasion without any difficulty.
The Government today ordered that the salary of government employees for June 2017 shall be drawn and disbursed to them on June 22 in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
"The treasury officers are directed to receive the salary bill for June 2017 up to 6pm on June 21, 2017. The Bills received up to the time and date mentioned will be disbursed on June 22," an order issued by the General Administration Department said.
The order further states that on June 22 only those bills, received till previous evening, will be entertained for disbursement.
The employees of Civil Secretariat have expressed gratitude to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for her direction of releasing the salary of June month before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a statement issued here today, Chairman, Civil Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee, Ghulam Rasool Mir hailed the Chief Minister for being sensitive to the needs and problems of the employees and prioritizing them for early redressal. He said today's direction of early release of salary in favour of the employees, particularly SSA teachers, contractual and adhoc, so that they can celebrate the occasion without any difficulty reflects the commitment of the Chief Minister to extend a helping hand to people of the State.
The CSNGEU President also thanked the Finance Minister, Dr. Haseeb Drabu, the Chief Secretary, B B Vyas and Commissioner Secretary Finance, Mr Navin Choudhary for the same and putting the directions of the Chief Minister into action.
In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the State's Finance Department has released Rs 233 crore to the treasuries to clear all the pending bills on account of payment of contractors and GP Fund claims of employees.
"As on date there are no bills of contractors or GP Fund claims pending for payment in any of the treasuries as funds to the tune of Rs 233 crore have been made available during the past couple of days to clear all the pending bills," a Finance Department spokesperson said.
He said in view of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu reviewed all the pending claims and liabilities in the treasuries across the state and on his directions adequate funds were released and all the pending bills cleared. The release of funds includes Rs 142 crore on account of GPF and Rs 90 crore on account of contractors' bills, he said.
The spokesman said, similarly, all pending claims on account of salaries, wages, honorarium, stipend and scholarships which had been received in the treasuries till date were also cleared.
