Sikh organizations demands revocation Govt order No. 333-Edu

Jammu, Jun 21: A joint press conference of various Sikh organizations State Gurudwara Parbhandhak Board, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Shiromani Akal Dal Badal, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar, Sikh Students Federation, Various Sikh Naujwan Sabhas of Jammu, is organized under the Chairmanship of S Tarlochan Singh Wazir President State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board to deliberate upon the discriminatory treatment being given to the widely spoken Punjabi language in J&K, which is evident from the recent circular issued by Education department of J&K Vide No. 333-Edu. of 2017, dated 19.06.2017.
While addressing the press conference S. Tarlochan Singh Wazir flayed the government by saying that Punjabi Language, having been given recognition and guarantee under article 146, schedule VI of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution.
Thus it becomes obligatory on the part of J&K Government to make all efforts for the promotion of this language in addition to other languages.
Any attempt to pick and choose defeats the constitutional guarantee, thereof. Punjabi language is the only language which has been taught in the schools of Jammu and Kashmir for the last one century.
All the prominent social, political and religious Sikh leaders condemned this attitude of the govt. and warned that if the government didn't revoke or amend this order by incorporating Punjabi in it, then the community shall be forced to come on the roads and protest against the step motherly treatment of the present Government.
