JU Bhadarwah campus organise lecture

JAMMU, June 23: Bhadar wah campus of the University of Jammu today organised an awareness lecture on importance and maintenance of oral health and hygiene.
Dr.Gautam Sharma, Dental Surgeon of the University of Jammu and former president of Indian Dental Association (IDA) delivered this lecture to the faculty, research scholars and the students of the University. Dr. Gautam apprised the audience about the importance of good oral health and methods of up keeping it. He discussed about various oral problems among children, adults and elderly people.
He stressed that people should maintain good oral hygiene simply by brushing twice a day to prevent dental ailments rather than disease to worsen and then undergo torturous treatment. He said that personality of a person is reflected in his or her oral health.
Dr.Gautam also discussed the hazardous effects of tobacco chewing leading to cancer and other life threatening conditions.
Prof.G.M.Bhat, Rector, Bhadarwah campus, who was chief guest on the occasion stressed upon the optimal use of sweet and sticky food products and confectionery. He also advised the audience to regularly undergo oral health check-up so that the oral diseases can be detected at an early stage and treated with good prognosis. A question answer session was held in which the participants asked relevant questions regarding the topics covered in the lecture. Participants also requested Dr.Gautam Sharma to organise a oro-dental check-up camp at Bhadarwah campus.
