Smart City projects will open up newer vistas: Jamwal

JAMMU, Jun 24: Puneet Singh Jamwal, Zone President J&K People's Democratic Party (PDP), Jammu West while hailing inclusion of both Jammu as well as Srinagar into the new list of 30 Smart Cities announced by the Centre under Smart City Mission said that these projects will open up newer vistas for our youth and J&K State come at par with any other developed city of the country.
Finding a place in 100 cities to be developed across the country is a big achievement and now the aspirations of people of both regions would be taken care of. This is a big achievement of coalition government which must get support from all quarters so that both Jammu as well as Srinagar are developed on most modern lines enabling youth to find great opportunities for their development and prosperity.
Puneet Singh Jamwal hoped that keeping in view the urgency of matter and aspirations of people the government will begin work on preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the works that would be taken in the two cities soon. Jammu as well as Srinagar city needs development both on core infrastructure and technological fronts for which we must work hard and try to meet targets. This is golden opportunity wherein centrally funded scheme would develop our cities on modern lines.
The PDP leader said that Rs 500 crore for each smart city means J&K will get about Rs 1000 crore with which Jammu and Srinagar will get up-graded traffic system, electricity, water, drainage, communication and related systems suitable for doing work at ease and business with must better system. These facilities will add to the infrastructure and help youth venture into newer vistas. He lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for taking up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that this is going to be a great development in the history of J&K State.
Puneet Singh Jamwal said that late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed too had similar aspirations of developing Jammu and Kashmir State wherein people could witness peace and prosperity. The youth, he added must prepare themselves for a big transformation and be part of such development processes. "The state is producing young lawyers, politicians, engineers, doctors, artists, entrepreneurs and other professionals besides bureaucrats and in the given situation smart city projects will be a boon for all of us", he asserted.
