Sikh organizations hold protest demonstration; demand inclusion of Punjabi language as compulsory subject

JAMMU, June 25: A strong protest was organized by various Sikh Organizations J&K inclunding Sheromani Akali Dal, Sikh United Front, Bhai Kanhiya Nishkam Sewa Society, All India Sikh students Federation, Sikh Welfare Society, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Members D.G.P.C Jammu and thousands of Sikh Sangat of Jammu at National Highway Digiana Ashram Jammu in which demand for implementation of Punjabi language as compulsory subject was put forth and various leader called upon tje state government to include Punjabi as a compulsory language in the state at all levels. The national highway was blocked and vociferous slogans against the state government policy were raised.
While addressing the people and the media S. Dayal Singh Wazir, President Sheromani Akali Dal J&K, said that the history of Sikhs is the history of sacrifice which the Sikhs have contributed for the entire country and Sikhs have contributed for the entire country and Sikhs will not tolerate injustice to its own people and he further condemned the state government for its step motherly treatment to the Punjabi language while making other regional languages compulsory. All the participants were demanding immediate implementation of Punjabi language as a compulsory subject and warned of an agitation if the demand not met with.
