Rain triggers landslides in HP, rivers in spate

Shimla, July 13: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh triggering landslides which blocked a number of roads while major rivers and their tributaries in the state are in spate in lower areas of the state.
Nahan, which received 116 mm of rains since yesterday, was the wettest place in the region followed by Baijnath 105 mm, Renuka 78 mm, Dharamshala and Palampur 62 mm each, Saloni 60 mm, Jogindernagar 57 mm, Paonta Sahib 56 mm, Pachhad 39 mm, Sangrah 28 mm, Kumarsen 26 mm and Shimla 22 mm. Maximum temperatures increased by two to three degrees and Una, which recorded a high of 34.2 degrees Celsius, was the hottest is the state.
Sundernagar recorded a high of 31.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Kangra 31.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 30.8 degrees Celsius, Dhara mshala 29.6 degrees Celsius, Nahan 28.7 degrees Celsius, Solan 27.2 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 23 degrees Celsius and Shimla 21.4 degrees Celsius.
However, there was no appreciable change in minimum temperatures and Manali was coldest with a low of 13.2 degrees Celsius followed by Kalpa 13.6 degrees Celsius and Keylong 15.3 degrees Celsius. The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains in the mid and lower hills on July 16 and predicted a et spell in the region for next six days.
