PIL seeks implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace Act 2013

JAMMU, Aug 12: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Adv Rajeshwari Katoch seeking implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace Act 2013.
A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjeev Kumar observed that after perusal of the compliance report, petitioner submits that the District Officers have pointed out following deficiencies in the report submitted by the learned Dy. AG on behalf of the Social Welfare Departmentthat the District Officers, namely, the Deputy Commissioners have not constituted the Local Complaints Committee.
The Administrative Departments have not constituted the Internal Complaints Committee and no steps have been taken to extend the provisions of the Act to private sector as well.
Division Bench observed that 3. In view of the aforesaid submissions, we deem it appropriate to direct the impleadment of Secretary, General Administrative Department (GAD), Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir as respondent and issued four weeks' notice to newly impleaded respondents.
