Inspects progress on FCS&CA, LMD Office buildings

Jammu, Aug 13: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said the government is creating adequate public infrastructure for better service delivery. The Minister said this while inspecting under construction buildings of Office of Controller, Legal Metrology Depart ment and Secondary Standard Laboratory at Narwal and FCS&CA building at Ware House being constructed over an area of 4 kanals at the cost of Rs 10.33 crore. Expressing concern over the slow pace at Narwal, the Minister directed the executing agency to expedite the construction work and complete it within the set deadline.
The Minister also visited Working Standards Laboratory and directed the officers to prepare an inventory of instrument and maintain cleanliness in and around the laboratory. The instruments should be properly displayed in the laboratory and seized items be kept in stores, he added.
Reviewing the status of complaints received at consumer helpline desk, the Minister directed the officers to take every complaint with utmost seriousness and resolve the public grievances in a time bound manner. He asked them to create awareness among the common masses about the consumer helpline and put on sign boards at prominent places so that the people don't face any difficulty in locating Working Standards Laboratory.
The Minister directed the inspectors to regularly conduct field visits and enforce accuracies in weights and measures for safeguarding the interests of the consumers. While inspecting FCS&CA building at Ware House, the Minister directed the executing agency to complete the construction works within one year. Director, FCS&CA R A Inqalabi, Joint Controller, Legal Metrology V S Sambyal, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Manoj Prabhakar and other senior officers accompanied the Minister during the inspection visit.
