Congress celebrates 71st Independence Day

Jammu, Aug 15: Congress party celebrated 71st Independence Day in all its District and Block Headquarters today. The main function was held at PCC HQ Jammu where Mr. Anil Chopra, President District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) hoisted National Flag in the presence of functionaries of PCC, DCC, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, INTUC, NSUI and the people from all sections of society.

Speaking on the occasion Sham Lal Sharma congratulated the people of J&K on this occasion and recalled the supreme sacrifices of countless countrymen to achieve freedom. He also cautioned the people about the nefarious designs of the divisive forces working against the State and Country. He said that Congress party has always played a vital role to maintain unity and integrity of the nation and it is the need of the hour that we should unitedly fight and thwart the evil designs of the divisive and antinational forces who are raising their ugly head time and again to weaken the nation.
Mr. Anil Chopra greeted the people of the State on the occasion and remembered the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar lal Nehru. Neta Ji Subash Chander Bose, Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh, Sardar Patel, Mulana Abul Kalam Azad, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and many other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to liberate India from foreign rulers and guide modern India towards its substantive progress. He also recalled the leaders like Smt. Indira Gandhi, Shri Rajiv Gandhi who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the country.
