Two days training programme for Retainer Lawyers begins at Doda

Jammu, Aug 17: On the directions of State Legal Services Authority, two days training programme for Retainer Lawyers of twin Districts Doda and Kishtwar commenced at Doda. In all, 14 lawyers from District Doda and 6 lawyers from District Kishtwar, who have been empanelled as 'Retainer Lawyers' by the SLSA are participating in this brain storming training programme, which has been divided into eight working sessions. In his inaugural address, Mr. M.K Sharma, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Dist. & Sessions Judge) Bhaderwah, emphasized that access to justice will become meaningful only if the legal services provided to the poor and marginalized sections are of the highest standards in terms of competence and skill. The lawyers who are on the panel of the DLSA and TLSC's are normally young and are keen to render their services to those who are needy. This requires improvement in the quality of panel lawyers, which, in turn requires training of such lawyers to help them perform better. He said that this workshop has been conceived to build capacity of lawyers on the panel of Legal Services Authorities.
Giving brief description about the programme, Mr. Khem Raj Sharma, CJM & Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Doda focused on the duties and responsibilities of Retainer Lawyers towards the poor and marginalized section of the society who approach them with legal assistance.
The training programme shall be conducted by Ms. Jyoti Sharma, Advocate, Master Trainer who shall deal with different subjects in eight working sessions spread over two days. The inaugural session was attended by Mr. Madan Lal ADJ Doda, members of the bar and local PLVs. JNF
