Mahila Congress holds protest demonstration against NDA Govt

Jammu, Aug 17: Hundreds of activists of Mahila Congress under the leadership of Pradesh Mahila Congress president Ms. Indu Pawar, Ex-MLA, held massive protest demonstration outside Press Club of Jammu against unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities. The protesting activists chanted slogans against Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Mahila Congress activists also demanded check on the uncontrolled prices of essential commodities. Addressing activists, Ms. Indu Pawar recalled that BJP had made a false promise to the people of the nation to give them "Achey Din" but in reality they are giving us "expensive days" by increasing the prices of essential commodities, one by one ranging from LPG, Petrol and diesel to the prices of essentials of daily use and railway fare. She said increase in prices of Petrol, Diesel and Gas (LPG) will result in the increase in price of all commodities. When the BJP was campaigning before the elections,, they had promised to curb inflation and cut down the cost of basic amenities. While warning the NDA of intensified agitation if the Centre continued to take such "anti-people decisions", she regretted said that "BJP has betrayed the people in the name of "Achey Din" and after elections their good days are not arriving, but the price hike is taking place on essentials one after the other". Mahila Congress president said that womenfolk are bearing maximum brunt of the anti-people policies being propagated by the NDA government headed by Narendra Modi.
She said expect tall promises nothing concrete has been done on the ground. She pointed towards unprecedented hike in the prices of tomato and onions and alleged that this regime is serving interests of business houses at the cost of the poor people. "The prices of onion have skyrocketed and are being sold at Rs 40 per kg while the prices of onions were Rs 18 per kg in 2014. The present union government has made onions out of the reach of the common man", she said adding that the BJP had proiaiised to bring down inflation in the country but the prices of pulses like Tun, Moong, Arhar Dal had increased by 50 to 70 per cent.
Lambasting coalition parties in general and BJP in particular, Ms. Indu Pawar said that this party has betrayed people of Jammu region as nothing has been done to solve their day today problems. BJP has failed on all fronts to provide an honest, accountable, efficient and clean administration in the State.
