Integrated campaign on “Hastkala Sahyog Shivir” organised

Udhampur, Oct 13: Hanloom Dev Department and Weavers Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and Handloom Development Department, Udhampur in collaboration with Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Gover nment of India organised a "Hastkala Sahyog Shivir" at panjar village of Mongri block in Udhampur district the other day. Various Officers/ Officials from National Handloom Development Corporation, Directorate of Field Publicity, Development Corporation( Handicrafts) and J&K Bank Mongri and Pancheri attended the function.
Tahir Ahmed Haqim, Assistant Director while addressing the gathering highlighted various schemes undertaken by the department. He also gave an elaborated awareness and information about Supply of Hank Yarn at Mill gate price, Issue of yarn pass book, Price Subsidy of Hank Yarn, Integrated Skill Development Schemes, Integrated handloom Development Scheme, Cluster Approach, Group approach etc. He was also of the view that such Shivirs are organised to provide basic knowledge to Weavers at grass root level.
Gulshan Kumar, Assistant Director also delivered a key note address on Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Scheme, Diversified handloom Development Scheme, Revival, Reform and Restructuring of the handloom sector, handlooms Weavers comprehensive welfare scheme, Weavers Credit card Scheme, Health Insurance Scheme for Medical treatment etc. He also welcomes the coordinated approach of various departments in organising such programmes in far flung and inaccessible areas. Gurnam Singh, incharge Field Publicity Officer, DFP, Govt. Of India also interacted with the audience and highlighted the importance of such Campaigns which are directly linked for the transformation socio-economic conditions of Weavers Large number of weavers majority of them were women attended/ participated in the Shivir.
