Quiz competition on Swachh Bharat Mission held at R.S. Pura

RSPura, Oct 13: Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Jammu in partnership with National Development Foundation organized quiz competition under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School R.S. Pura. Dr. Gagan Bhagat MLA R.S. Pura was the chief guest during the programme. Mr. Gobind Ram Sharma Principal Girls Hr. Secondary School R.S. Pura, Mr. Manoj Bali Executive Officer Municipal Corporation R.S. Pura, Mr. Parvinder Singh Programme Manager NDF, Mr. Sunny Kumar PC NDF, Mr. Retish Suri PC NDF, teachers and children were present during the programme. Five teams Govt. Model Boys Hr. Sec. School R.S. Pura, Mother India Senior Secondary R.S. Pura, Dogra Public High School R.S. Pura, Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School R.S. Pura and Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School R.S. Pura participated in the competition. Mr. Deepu Raina was the quiz master assisted by Ms. Antriksha.
First prize was bagged by Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School R.S. Pura comprised of Chetan, Akashdeep, Nitish, Balvinder, Raman. Second prize was bagged by Mother India Higher Secondary School R.S. Pura comprised of Shuvam, Rupali, Riya, Manisha, Nisha; third prize was bagged by Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School R.S. Pura comprised of Preeti, Smiley, Sharvani, Gurmeet, Riya. Consolation prizes were won by Dogra Public High School R.S. Pura comprised of Mehak ,Jagreeti, Tania, Ritika, Mehak and Gandhi Memorial Hr. Sec. School R.S. Pura comprised of Navika, Rupali, Aanchal, Priya, Pooja.
EO Municipal Corporation R.S. Pura and Principal Girls Hr. Secondary School R.S. Pura also interacted with the children and appealed them to take pledge that they will make every possible effort for ensuring clean and green environment.
Dr. Bhagat while interacting with the participants stressed upon the need of change of behavior of every individual to achieve the objective of Swachh Bharat Mission. He briefed about the different initiatives started by the State and Centre Govt. for making India clean and green. He appealed the children to be the ambassadors of change and work as Swachhta volunteers to change the mindset of the people and motivate them to adopt the hygienic practices and proper disposal of the waste material and garbage. He also asked the children not to defecate in open and motivate their families for use of toilets. Around 20 girl children witnessing the competition apprised the MLA about non availability of toilets in their households and MLA announced the construction of toilets in their household from his Constituency Develo pment Fund.
Prizes and certificates were also distributed among the participants.
