National level Art Exhibition opens at Kala Kendra

JAMMU, Oct 14: National level Art Exhibition was inaugurated by Jenab Zafar Iqbal Manhas, MLC & Vice-President, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu in the Master Sansar Chand Baru Art Gallery at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The exhibition has been organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu in the memory of Late Gobind Kaur, first Woman Contemporary Sculptor of J&K state. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Secretary, Kala Kendra & Addl. Secy, J&K Academy of Art, N D Jamwal, an eminent writer & artist and O P Sharma, Director JKCCA shared the dais.
The works of veteran and senior of the state like N D Jamwal, T S Batra, Jang S. Verman, Ganesh Sharma, Aslam Naqishbandi, Ashok Mehra, Dr. Raj Kumar, Raj Bharti have been displayed in the exhibition.
The well known painters, sculptors and graphic artists like V S Rahi and Dr. A K Dixit (New Delhi), Prabhinder Lall (Chandigarh), B B Bodae (Indore), Ramesh Bhosale (Pune), K S Gill and Dharmender Sharma (Amritsar), Dr. Mamta Singh (Dehradun), Nisha Soni (Kota), Pratima Singh (Lucknow), Minu Dey (Kolkatta) and others from fifteen states of the country are participating in this exhibition.
The other artists whose work is on display in the show include Amrit Kaur, Anuradha Devi, AshmitaAtul Mattu, Deepthi Jayan, Diksha Chib, Dipanjali Das, Gaytri, Harsimrat Kaur, Kanchan Mistry, Mahima Si.ngh Jamwal, Megha Khajuria, Mohd. Akram Khan, Naresh Sharma, Neelam Dobriyal, Nisha, Nisha Soni, O P Sharma, Pankaj Piku Tunwal, Payal Chadha Gupta, Priyanka Patel, Rohit Sharma, Rouf Qyasi, Shakti Kumari, Shalini Bharti, Smita Biswas, Soma Anand, Sunita Gandhi, Yogita Yadav and Anjali Mehra.
Welcoming the guests O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA highlighted the activities of JKCCA. He said that JKCCA has organized a large number of art and cultural activities across the country since its inception in 1999. He said that the exhibition has been dedicated to Late Gobind Kaur a disciple of Late V R Khajuria, legendary Sculptor of the state. He added that Gibind Kaur had contributed a lot in the field of sculpture, Graphic Art and Drawing art. Many of her students are now established artists.
He said that she worked with full dedication and her art has been recognized and rewarded by many organizations. He declared that fourth International Art Exhibition by JKCCA would be organized during March, 2018.
