Vijaypur, Oct 15: Seeking establishment of Regional Councils, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretary and former Minister Manjit Singh on Sunday asked ruling BJP to clear its stand on regional council for all three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
A huge public meeting was organized by the local Congress leader Ex-Caption Mohan Lal Sharma at village Kirpal Pur in Block Vijaypur. Speaking before the people, former minister Manjit Singh said that Congress had maintained in its manifesto during 2014 assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir about Regional Councils.
As the BJP is ruling Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with PDP, he said, they should clear their stand to end discrimination with the Jammuities. "People are feeling cheated with continued discrimination under a politic al party which always roared for the rights of Jammu but went into silent mode when it came to power compromising all the issues and even tourism," said Manjit Singh.
Singh said that anger is brewing among the people and they are in favour of Regional Council to end discrimination with Jammu. "All the regions should be treated equally and as the Government has failed on developmental front, they should support Regional Councils," he added.
He further said that Congress party has worked for the unity of all the regions and equal treatment with three regions. "There is no developmental work; all previous developmental projects have been stopped, dengue has spread in Jammu but concerned Minister is unmoved. People are going out of Jammu to get treatment in Punjab, situation on border is also not good, and border residents have lost the sense of security with failure of the Government's policies in centre as well as in state," he said. Those who spoke on the ccouson Capt.
