16/10/2017

Jammu, Oct 15: Congress today held massive protest demonstration at Karan Bagh Chowk, Chatha Morh Jammu in which people from Gadigarh , Rohimorh , Bhour Camp and adjoining areas participated in large number and effigy of BJP was burnt over its surrender for the sake of power resulting in innumerable sufferings on account of providing decent supply of drinking water, power supply, repairing of roads, constructing lanes and drains and most importantly in controlling inflation making the life of common man miserable and making it difficult for them to lead a dignified life due to soaring prices of all the essential commodities.
The protest was organized by Sarpanch Bhour Camp & Congress Block President Amrit Bali and was ably led by former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla. Carrying placards and raising slogans against coalition Govt and particularly BJP, the protesters torched effigy of BJP by decorating it with bangles to express resentment over cheating by BJP with sentiments and aspirations of people of Jammu. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Panchyat Chairman S.Atar Singh Shanty, Naib Sarpanch S.Gurcharan Singh, Ward President Kapoor Lal, Sunil Slathia, Raj Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Balv Krishan, Jagmohan Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Gurbachan Kour, Raj Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Teja Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Vipan Sharma, Pardeep Bhalla and Others.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Bhalla said that BJP which claims to be the champion of Jammu people has betrayed the mandate of the people by taking U-turn on all vital commitments made with the people of the state, especially Jammu region during elections. The Govern ment is not performing according to the Agenda of Alliance. The farmers, business community, traders, students are totally fed up with this non-performing Govern ment, which has failed on all fronts whether it is providing basic facilities to the people or paying timely wages to the daily wagers working in various departments of the State or checking price hike of essential commodities", he said.
The governments in the state and Centre are giving lollypops only in the name of development and securing peace in the state, while in fact it has totally collapsed on all accounts. Bhalla said that against promised two crores jobs, only 2.31 lakh jobs were available in 2015-16.
"Lowest number of jobs was created in organized sector across 8 industries as compared to last 7 years. The labour bureau report reflects that GOI admits loss of 2 lakh jobs from October 2016 to January-17 due to demonetization, 10 lakh unemployed youth join the list every month. BJP had severely criticized the MGNERGA Scheme but it remains to be the largest jobs guarantee scheme in the country but Modi Govt enhanced the wages by a paltry average of just 2.7% in 2017 as compared to average increase of 9% per year during UPA while several BJP ruled states like Assam, Jharkhand, UP and Uttrakhand remain the cruel joke of increase of Rs.1 in wages in 2017-18."The government owes payments to the tune of Rs 9, 179 crore to the workers. Another major anti worker step is the linking of Adhar Card as mandatory for MGNRGA jobs, whereas only 15% registered workers are linked to Adhar."
