Rotary Club holds mega winter clothes distribution camp

Jammu, Oct 16: Rotary Club of Jammu City organised a Mega Winter Clothes Distribution Camp here today for distribution of warm clothes among migrant labourers at the Labourer Hutments near Marble Market, Trikuta Nagar Extension and Gangyal Industrial Estate.
The clothes had been brought in by all the members of the Club and included clothes for men, women and children. Warm blankets were also distributed among the residents of the hutments of migrant labourers. Dr. Sahul Lerra, Dr. Nidhi Khajuria, Dr. Bhavneet Kour and members of the fraternity of Dental Surgeons of Jammu
contributed a large
number of clothes for distribution among the needy people of the society.
Speaking on the occasion Rtn. Sachin Gupta, Assistant Governor R.I. District 3070, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, lauded the humanitarian efforts of the Club and said that such initiatives at the grassroots level go a long way in helping the people who need support from the society.
Rtn Anil Swaraj, President, Rotary Club of Jammu City, emphasised the need to reach out to the marginalised sections of the society and said that in future also the Club would be undertaking projects to alleviate the sufferings of the underprivileged. He gave details of other projects being undertaken by Rotary Club of Jammu City including Rotary Book Bank in which text books are provided free of cost to students from marginalized families and Gift of Life Scheme under which the entire cost of surgery and other related expenses in respect of children from below poverty line families who have a hole in their heart are borne by Rotary.
Past President Rtn. Adeep Mehta, lauded the efforts of the members of the Club in organising the Camp and hoped that the future projects of the Club would also see similar empathy and enthusiasm on the part of all members.
