ATG presents Hindi play “Ek Tuti Hui Kursi”

Jammu, Oct 18: In young directors' series, Amateur Theatre Group (ATG) today showcased another scintillating play "Ek Tuti Hui Kursi" written by Ismail Choonara, translated in Hindi by Uma Jhunjhunwala under the direction of young director, Sandeep Verma at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. Sandeep Verma tailored it in such a modern-day manner that made the audience spell bound right through the whole play. It was a theatrical delight for the audience present in the auditorium who meticulously enjoyed the performance and applauded at the ironic proportion of the play. The play portrayed the drama hidden in the old relationship of 3 friends when they meet together some day. The actors' who performed in the play were cherished by one and all.
The play begins with the union of 3 friends at a secluded and unknown place. As the play moves on, it unfolds the drama that was hidden in their relationship. One of the friends is in procession of a broken chair, 2nd has a leg of the chair and the 3rd friend has an alarm clock. A bucket is also portrayed in the play with a hole and a torn out shoe. The play symbolizes all the belongings and events occur with life. The actors who acted in the play included Sandeep Verma as Ravi, Vivek Sangotra as Aziz and Sakshi Bhat as Sumitra. The set was designed by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and ATG Director Mushtaq Kak. Music was scored by Ankit Sharma. Lights were executed by Sunil Sharma, Mohit Chib was production manager, Aman was stage manager and Costumes were designed by Kanchi Khajuria. Mohit Puri was the associate director and Sunaina Kumari arranged the property.
Amateur Theatre Group is organizing this young director series with an aim to boost the talent of Jammu in the field of performing arts and also to promote theatre as a key cultural element in the State as well as to bring together and spark a dialogue among theatre lovers from various parts of the State and country. Amateur Theatre Group undertakes to showcase world's best plays in Jammu in coming months under Young directors' series.
