Steps afoot to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Basohli: Lal Singh

‘Rs 2 cr earmarked for Sananghat PHC; work in full swing’

JAMMU, Oct 18: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today said that government has initiated several projects to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Basholi.
He said that Rs 2 crore has been earmarked for construction of Primary Health Centre at Sananghat Basohli and the vital facility would be soon dedicated to people of the area. The Minister was addressing a large gathering after listening the problems of the people of Sananghat and its adjoining areas, here today. Chief Conservator of Forests Farooq Gillani, Additional Deputy Commi ssioner Sanjay Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Develop ment were also present.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that the remote villages of the Basholi constituency would be developed on modern lines with all basic amenities including better road connectivity, lanes and drains, safe drinking water, upgraded healthcare, education, unin terrupted power supply.
The Minister said that the Government was fully aware about the problems of the people living in far-flung areas of the State and making all out efforts to develop these at par with urban areas. He said instructions have been issued to the officers of R&B, PDD, FCS and CA and RDD to personally visit these areas and solve the problems of the people without any delay.
Responding to the demands of the staff of Government Degree College Mahanpur, Choud hary Lal Singh asked the Executive Engineer R&B to prepare a detailed project report for construction of residential quarters in the camps.
Earlier, the Minister also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries of Sananghat for construction of latrines under Individual House Hold Scheme (IHHS). Later, the Minister also conducted an extensive tour of Mara Patti, Sabar and Dhanni villages of Basholi tehsil and listened to the development related issues of the people. Choudhary Lal Singh gave patient hearing to them and solved many projected problems on-the-spot. The left out issues were referred to the concerned departments for early redressal.
He said with the active support of people, the institutions of governance at ground level are being strengthened. He further said that every resident has vital duty to take up the concerns of the society at appropriate forums.
He exhorted upon the people to come forward to reap the benefits of schemes especially designed to meet the aspirations of the people. He appealed the educated unemployed youth to avail the benefits of various schemes initiated by both Central and State Governments to establish income and employment generating units.
