DDC Rajouri convenes public meeting at Moghla

RAJOURI, Nov 18: The District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened a public meeting and grievance redressal camp at Moghla where more than 4000 people from a dozen panchayats of Moghla, Tryath, Treru and other areas participated. An open office was also convened for disposal of public applications.
People in large number from Moghla Teryath and adjoining villages who gathered in the public meetings while appreciating the district administration for its massive outreach programmes apprised the DDC about various serious development related issues in these areas. Issues ranging from construction/ maintenance roads infrastructure, water supply schemes, provision of electric poles and transformers to up-gradation of health and education institutes, staff shortage and large pendency of widow /old age pension cases were flagged during the course of public meeting. A myriad of other demands like seed store, Aadhar enrolment center, sheep centre, bank branch, Degree College, provisions of adequate transport facilities and development of tourism infrastructure poured in.
The district officers apprised the public about status of various development projects in the area and registered the grievances pertaining to their department for time bound removal of grievances. Dr. Shahid, while stressed upon the district and sectoral officers to ensure that demands of general public are taken into consideration while formulating annual developmental plans of the respective departments so as to nip the source of public grievances at the very onset.
The executive engineers of PWD, PMGSY and PHE were strictly directed to complete the work on the ongoing projects within stipulated time to avoid cost overrun apart from preparing the estimates for new projects to be taken up in these areas.
To address the issue of left out deserving families which were in the BPL List, concerned tehsildar and BDO were directed to conduct Gram Sabha and finalize the BPL list in consultation with the local residents. They were further asked to consider genuine demands of public for bifurcation of panchayats and establishment new polling stations.
For widow/old age pension cases, the DDC asked the public to scrutinize and send genuine cases of their area which would be disposed off on priority basis. He also impressed upon the Chief Education Officer to formulate plan for up-gradation of schools in addition to addressing the issue of shortage of staff in the schools.
Executive Engineers of various engineering depart ments, SDM Kalakote, CEO RDA, ACD, AD FCS& CAs, CEO, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agri culture Officer and other concerned district and sectoral officers participated in the public meetings and taken the issues raised during the course of meetings.
Later, an impressive and scintillating cultural programme was organized by the District Social Welfare Officer Dr. Abdul Khabir on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. The public was educated about the importance of protecting and promoting the female sex in arresting the declining trends of child sex ratio.
