HEROINE WORTH MORE THAN 75 CRORES 24 LAKHS RECOVERED

4 drug peddlers held with 15 kg heroin

JAMMU, Nov 24: Four people were arrested and over 15 kg of heroin and Rs 24 lakh cash was seized from them in Jammu .
They were arrested during an anti-drugs operation yesterday. Rs 24,23,500 in cash and 15.3 kg of heroin was seized by a police team, Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) S D Singh Jamwal told reporters here. The total value of the seized heroine is more than Rs. 75 crores in international market. IGP Jammu Dr. S.D. Singh held a press conference at Police Control Room, Jammu. DIG JSK Range Rafeeq-ul-Hassan-IPS and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta –IPS also attended the press conference. The IGP stated that 4 different FIRs have been registered at Police Stations Gandhi Nagar and Gangyal. The FIR Numbers are 218/2017 and 220/2017 U/S 8/21/22 of NDPS Act at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The FIRs registered at Police Station Gangyal are 88/2017 and 89/2017 U/S 8/21/22 of NDPS Act.
The IGP further added that the four accused arrested in FIR numbers 218 and 220 are Rakesh Kumar @Bobby S/O Balbir Singh R/O Amritsar, Punjab, Sanjeev Sharma @Sanjay S/O Brij Lal Sharma R/O Indira Nagar, Jammu respectively. The accused arrested in FIR numbers 88 and 89 are Ashtyaq Ahmed S/O Kalu Hussain R/O Thana Mandi and Sunny Kumar S/O Hans Raj R/O Smailpur Kothey, Jammu respectively.
Based on specific intelligence received and developed by Jammu Police, the operation was launched by SDPO South Rafiq Manhas, SHO Gandhinagar Dr Sunniya Wani, SHO Gangyal Nayat Ali, I/C PP Digiana Pawan Dogra and SI Vicky Thapa under the supervision of SP South Sandeep Chaudhary and SSP Jammu Sh. Vivek Gupta-IPS.
In a related development a team of district Police Poonch recovered 50 Kgs poppy husk from a truck bearing registration number of PB 12M/7284 which was coming from Kashmir from Mughal Road. Two accused person namely Jasdev Singh S/O Karnail Singh R/O Nagra, Ludhiana and Balvinder Khan S/O Sardara Khan R/O Nagra Ludhiana Punjab have been arrested in this connection.
In yet another operation on 23-11-2017, District Police Jammu police recovered 2 Kg and 700 grms charas from one Tavera bearing registration No. JK03D-0332 which was coming from Srinagar to Jammu. One Momin Ahmed Dar S/O Gulzar Ahmed Dar R/O Adar Bijbehera, Anantnag. FIR No. 253/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Nagrota in this regard
The matter is being probed, he said.
The officer said that it was a night-long operation in which the police yesterday also seized 50 kg of poppy and arrested two people in Poonch district.
"It was the biggest operation against the drug menace so far this year in the region," he said.
