DB directives in Contempt in PIL seeking directions to Railway regarding announcement in Dogri

JAMMU, Nov 25: In a contempt petition filed by BR Manhas in PIL regarding discrimination being meted out to the both languages of State of J&K Dogri & Kashmiri whereas announcements at Railway Stations in regional languages besides in Hindi & English is being made by the Indian Railways. In the PIL it has been submitted that in the states of Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Orissa, the same is not being done in the state of J&K where the announcements at Railway stations is being done only in Hindi and English and not in Dogri in which Earlier Division Bench disposed of the PIL with the directed to respondents to comply with the provisions of law strictly to do the needful as per law.
A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar after hearing both the sides directed petitioner shall provide the names of the Railway Stations as requiredin Dogri language (Takri script).
The same shall be provided within a week. Thereafter, within three weeks, the Northern Railway shall put up the Destination Boards /Belly Boards in the Railway Stations of Jammu, Udhampur, Katra and Kathua. JNF
