Disaster Management preparedness discussed at Ramban

RAMBAN, Dec 7: District Development Commissioner, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today convened a meeting to discuss strategies for tackling any situation that may arise due to weather vagaries during winter season particularly blockage of NH1A and other road stretches here today. The meeting was attended by ADC, SSP Traffic, ASP, ACR, CPO, XENs PDD, PHE, PWD, SDMs, ARTO, Tehsildars and other concerned officers.
Threadbare discussion was held with the concerned officers on all necessary arrangements like power supply, drinking water; ration storage, clearance of roads, and health facilities besides other inconveniences generally faced by the people during natural calamities. Focusing mainly on hilly areas, DDC asked the concerned officers to make all required arrangements to avoid any inconvenience to the people during heavy rain and snow falls.
He passed instructions to the officers for regular monitoring of their areas where the possibility of untoward incident may occur in extreme cold season and also asked them to submit a detailed report of accommodations to be used for health stay.
Stressing on maintaining close coordination among various departments, DDC instructed the concerned agencies to alert their men and machinery so that effective response is ensured to deal with any calamity. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure smooth passage of the traffic by removing snow besides ensuring proper maintenance of NH1A at all crucial places.
