I just want to make films that I believe in: Abhay Deol

13/12/2017

After his endearing performance in 'Happy Bhag Jayegi' last year, Abhay Deol is currently busy creating a slate of work that he can proudly present to the audience in the coming year. 'Nanu Ki Janu' is one of his upcoming projects that wrapped up recently. In the film, Abhay plays Nanu, a troublemaker who meets his match in the form of a ghost. Speaking about his character, Abhay says, "He's a typical Dilliwala, trying to make some easy money. He's carefree and careless and has an independent streak, just like me. Otherwise, I'm nothing like him. I am carefree in many ways but I always try not to be careless."
His co-star in the film is Patralekhaa, who is scared of heights. For a sequence, she had to be harnessed to a cable that took her two storeys up in the air. "Watching her trying to act and not freak out was quite memorable. It was sadistically satisfying," adds Abhay, who also has pivotal roles in JL-50, a Canadian Hindi SFX drama, The Field, an American bilingual production, his own Tamil production Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kadhai (IVSK) and The Odds.
The dimpled Deol further adds, "Films are my means to express. It's the only constant in my life. It's important for everything to fall into place.
It's not about being perfect; it's about being complete. A good script is obviously an advantage and so is a good cast. It's really easy to be unconventional when everyone around you is conventional. People want change. I just want to make films that I relate to and believe in."
