Lawyers abstain from work

Jammu, Feb 12: On the call of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, the lawyers abstained from working in the High Court & Subordinate Courts in Jammu today on 12th of February, 2018, to protest the terrorist attack on Sunjwan Army camp sponsored by Pakistan, whereby five (5) Indian Soldiers were martyred besides some civilians also lost their lives. The Lawyers took out procession in the court premises raising slogans against Pakistan and the anti-national forces responsible for the attack. The protest was led by the President of the Bar B.S. Slathia, Sr. Advocate and other office bearers of the Bar namely Sachin Gupta, Adv, Vice President, Prem N. Sadotra, Adv. General Secretary, Himanshu Sharma, Adv, Joint Secretary & Chetan Misri, Adv. Treasurer.
Speaking on the occasion Slathia strongly condemned Pakistan for carrying on the policy of enmity against India and harboring terrorists on her soil and using them to threaten life of the people & - security forces in our State. Pakistan, who has failed to provide democracy and development to its people, has no business to disturb our peace in the State. He strongly condemned the role of National Conference Legislature & former Minister Mohd. Akbar Lone far raising pro-Pakistan slogans inside the Assembly on the day when terrorists from Pakistan were killing innocent citizens and Army personnel inside the Sunjwan Army Camp at Jammu.
Mr. Slathia appreciated the role of leadership of the party to distance itself from the conduct of the said
legislator in raising
pro-Pakistan slogans in the Assembly but at the same time strongly urged the National Conference
leadership to immediately withdraw the said legislator from the Assembly seat.
The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has taken a very serious view of the failure of the present coalition Govern ment of Jammu & Kashmir in saving the lives and liberty of the people and security forces working in the State. People on the borders & LOC, have suffered in the form of loss of lives of human being, cattle and destruction of the homes because of firing from Pakistan. There have been repeated terrorist attacks on the Army and police in the State & Government has failed to completely check the perpetrators of such attacks. Shockingly, the State Government facilitated lodging of FIR against the Army personnel wo were forced to resort to firing in self defense when they were suddenly attacked by stooges of
terrorists in the Valley. How the forces, particularly the Army, can be expected to work for maintaining security of the State when the Government also becomes hostile towards it.
