JK NTUF holds protest demonstration

Jammu, Feb 12: Anganwari workers and helpers of various projects of Jammu Division under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front organized massive protests/ demonstration in front of MAM Stadium Jammu today on 12-2-2018 to press the state Government and higher authorities of ICDS Department for immediate solution of long pending genuine demands of Anganwari workers and helper numbering more than 60000 in the state. Hundreds of workers and Helpers assembled in front of MAM Stadium Jammu and raised the slogans in support of their demands urging the state government to enhance their honorarium at par with the adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi where Rs 10000 are paid monthly honorarium to the workers.
The State government utilized the services of Anganwari worker and helpers in more than 1 dozen department and central schemes regarding the implementation of various schemes and projects but it is very unfortunate that the state government never bothered to enhance its state share to improve the economic condition of Anganwari workers and helpers. Similar programme of Anganwari workers and helpers were held at press enclave Srinagar led by Taslema Subham & famida Akthar.
While addressing the protesting workers Mr. Moh'd Gafoor Dar State president J&K National Trade Union Front condemned the anti workers policies of state government and ICDS higher authorities who area just shedding crocodile tears for the welfare of the workers and not settling their genuine issues. The other senior leaders of Anganwari workers who addressed the protest include Rattana Devi, Vijay Kumari Mahajabeen, Suman Suri, Ashi Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Lalita Devi, Raj Kumari, Shamim Akhtar, Shazia Kounser Irshad Begam, Anuradha, Summan Kumari, Purvesh Kumari, Harbhanse Kour, Harjeet Kour, Naseeb Jan, Nelam Parihar, Monika Devi, Pinki Bhat, Vimmi, Juli, Later on a procession of workers and helpers were taken from MAM Stadium to Civil Secretariat. The protest will conclude in Jammu today & continue at district Head quarters at the State in phased manner.
