Anganwari Workers holds protest; highlight demands

Jammu, Feb 14: Anganwari Workers and helpers of various Project of Jammu Division under the banner of J&K Worker and Helpers Union at Mubarak Mandi Jammu today on 14-2-2018 to press the State Govern ment and higher authorities of ICDS Department for immediate solution of long pending genuine demands of Anganwari worker and helpers numbering more than 60,000 in the state hundreds of workers and helpers assembled and raised slogans in support of their demands urging the state government to enhance their honorarium at par with the adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi where Rs. 10,000 per paid monthly honorarium to the workers.
The state government utilized the services of Anganwari workers and helpers in more than 1 dozen departments and central schemes regarding the implementation of various schemes and projects but it is very unfortunate that the state government never bothered to enhance its state share to improve the economic condition of Angan wari workers and helpers.
The honorarium of the Anganwari workers and helpers has not been increased for the last 10 years whereas the price rise of essential commodities has crossed all the limits and the poor workers and helpers are not is position to feed their families, in this situation the workers and helpers are left with no alternative except to come on streets and raise voice in supports of their below noted genuine demands for their immediate solution otherwise will be left with no alternative to intensity the agitation till the settlement of the demands.
While addressing the protesting workers Suman Suri State President Worker & Helpers Union condemned the anti worker policies of State Govern ment and ICDS authorities who are just shedding crocodile tears for the welfares and not settling their genuine issues.
President of the Union warned the higher authorities not to test the patience the workers and helpers who are already suffering economical due to the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities thus forcing them to come on the street and left with no alternative except to intensify the agitation. The other senior leaders of Anganwari worker who addressed the protest include Rattna, Swarna, Vijay, Nirmal Sharma, Mahajeeban, Meera, Ravinder, Pinki Bhat, Renu Sharma, Ganga Sharma, Asha Sharma, Suman.
