Jammu, Feb 14: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the Indian educational system is synonymous with respect for parents and senior citizens.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti (JKBSS) in connection with the celebration of honoring parents and senior citizens at Bhartiya Vidhaya Mandir, Amphalla, Jammu. Prof Naresh Padha, Social Activists, Mamta Singh, Reena Rajput and Satesh Mittal were also present.
While referring to the Indian system of education, the Deputy Chief Minister said its main focus is to inculcate sense of respect and dedication of the young generation for their parents and senior citizens. He said the fine nuances of civility and related things formed the major part of India's educational curriculum.
Dr Singh said with the advent of modern education and technology the joint family system, which was also responsible for ensuring that the young generation develops sense of respectability towards their parents and elderly, started to vanish and a new concept of nuclear families propped up. He said the same has also contributed towards giving rise to several things which were alien to our culture and ethics. The students of the school presented several cultural items. Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Shiv Mandir near the Tawi Bridge and paid obeisance there. He also inaugurated the community Langer organized by the Temple Management on eve of Mahashivratri.
