Students from all parts of country learn skiing at Gulmarg

JAMMU, Feb 17: 80 students from various parts of the country, including many locals from Kashmir graduated today in the 4th ski course conducted by IISM Gulmarg. Amongst students were pilots, Doctors, actress, engineers & students from various parts of the country including Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Assam, Uttrakhand and various other parts.
A graduation ceremony was held at IISM in which CEO Gulmarg Development Authority Dr Syed Hanief Balkhi was the chief guest and Mr Abdul Subhan Lone Ex DIG J&K Police was the special guest. Ms Musarat Kar State Secretary (Women's Wing) JKPDP whose children were part of this ski course was also present along with other parents from the valley.
Mr J S Dhillon, Principal IISM welcomed all the guests and briefed about the various activates being undertaken by the institute. He said that adventure training is very essential part of our education to develop the personality of our youth which cannot be done in the protected environments of schools & colleges. He said IISM is the best institute in South East Asia where students are provided accommodation in a centrally heated building.
The institute has world class ski equipments, snow mobiles and an excellent team of instructors to impart training of very high standards. Adventure training motivates students to face all challenges of life in cheerful way and distracts them from social evils such as intoxication and drug addiction.
Dr Balkhi expressed his deep sense of satisfaction on the excellent conduct of training by IISM. He said he is very happy to see the hard work put in by Principal & staff of IISM to not only revive this institute but also make it the best in South East Asia. He said such courses are very important to make our youth self reliant. He appreciated the extracurricular activities under taken by the institute to bring awareness on global warming and how to face this challenge to save our earth. He said, he himself has done research in the field of renewable energy and motivated students to bring awareness amongst our masses to use such measures to save our earth and lives of our future generations.
Mr Abdul Subhan Lone emphasized the role of such training in our education system and complimented the students for successfully completing the course. He said that his Global trust will develop close relationships with IISM to train their students in diversified adventure activities both in winter's and summers.
Many awards were given to students for their outstanding performances during the course. Institute plans to conduct 2 more such courses till end March during this winter
