Women safety is pivotal for success of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao: Rajesh

Jammu, Feb 17: MLA Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu East said that women safety was an important milestone for success of flagship programmes of Govt of India i.e "Beti Bachao Beto Padao" . He said this at the concluding ceremony of All-Girls Marshal Arts Championship organized by Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India in collaboration with Shito-Ryu Karate School, Jammu & Kashmir at Luthra Higher Secondary School, Talab Tillo Jammu. The championship was organised on the theme of 'Beti Bachao Beto Padao Beti Khelao' and focussed on encouraging the spirit of self dependence and empowerment in young girls with the respect to women safety.
Rajesh Gupta appreciated DFP for extending the concept of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao' to include 'Beti Khelao' and linking it with women safety. He said that till the girls of the country were not safe, no true empowerment of women could take place. He also said that it has been the tradition of the country to give the highest importance to women and there is a need to bring back this respect and dignity in the minds of the people.
Deputy Director, DFP, J&K Region Miss Neha Jalali while highlighting the role played by the DFP in changing mindsets of people through intensive communication and motivation campaigns said that the championship was organised to encourage girls to take up martial arts as a mean of self-defence, self dependence and empowerment.
Ayodhya Gupta, Chairman, Jammu & Kashmir Karate Association and District President BJP Jammu West, Virkam Singh Vice-President Shito-Ryu Karate School, J&K, Field Publicity Officer, Gulshan Raina, Amit Singh (Black Belt 4Th Dan WKF & KAI), Chief Coach and Rajesh Gupta from Luthra Higher Secondary School, Talab Tillo, Jammu were also present on the occasion.
Around 100 girls from ten educational institutes from all over Jammu city participated in the championship that included 30 Gold and 30 Silver winners. Many girls also displayed their talent and art of self defence through Katas and demonstrations. Shito Ryu Karate School of J&K is a Member of SKSI recognized by Govt. of India and Indian Olympic Association.
