Kashmir’s first AC train chugs to ‘give flip’ to Valley tourism

SRINAGAR, Feb 22: The trial run of first air conditioned train was successfully held in Kashmir on Thursday with Railway Department claiming newly introduced train will give "flip" to tourism in the region. The trial of the coach was held from Budgam to Banihal.
Addressing media
persons at Nowgam railway station in Srinagar, where coach was stopped for some time, Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar said coach was
primarily built to give a boost to tourism in valley.
"This train has been designed for sightseeing. There are spacious windows and seats in the coach. We have even kept sun roofs in it. It is also equipped with air condition," said Kumar adding "we want to give a warm essence to the visitors about Kashmir".
Kumar also said fares for the newly introduced AC train will be slightly higher than normal train and added it will likely start from next month.
