Army conducts awareness drive on drug abuse

Jammu, Apr 16: Indian Army organised a lecture on 'Drug Abuse' at Government Middle School, Sankari in Rajouri district on 16 April 2018. A skit depicting the subject was performed by the students of Government PG College, Rajouri. During the lecture, students were sensitized about various aspects of drug abuse and their adverse effects on the health, family and society. The Army officer explained to the students about various types of drugs and their ill effects on the body systems like neuro, respiratory and circulatory.
The symptoms, treatment and rehabilitation were given due emphasis during the discussion. It was emphasised by the officer that for drugs, prevention is better than cure however, there are various rehabilitation centres being run by the State government and NGOs that not only treat the drug addicts but also helps them in leading a normal life. It was reiterated that the affected person should be treated with compassion to overcome this menace.
The event concluded with a question & answer session in which the involvement of students was forthcoming.
