Army man missing since Apr 15 joins terror group Hizbul Mujahideen

NEW DELHI, Apr 16: An Army man has reportedly joined terror group- Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). Citing Jammu and Kashmir police officials, news agency PTI reported that the army man, a junior ranking jawan, was missing since the beginning of April.
The jawan- named Idrees Mir was posted in the Army's Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI). Mir reportedly joined Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday. According to reports, Mir had gone missing from Shopian earlier this month. While the Army had declared him "missing", the PTI report suggested that Mir had joined Hizbul Mujahideen along with two locals, who too, have been missing.
According to a report, a photograph of Mir brandishing an assault rifle surfaced on social media platforms on Monday. According to the report, the text on the photograph indicated that Mir, also known as Chhota Abrar joined HM on April 15. A native of Wachi in Shopian, South Kashmir, Mir was posted in Bihar.
Citing Army officials in New Delhi, the report said that Mir was on leave since April 7. The 23-year-old had joined the Army three years ago and was declared missing when he did not return until April 13-14. Despite reports, the Army has still maintained that Mir is "missing" as per its records and further details about his whereabouts are being "ascertained".
Without disclosing the identity of the police officials, news agency PTI further reported that according to the police, Mir was posted to Jharkhand and was unhappy about the move.
