JKHCBA resumes work

JAMMU, Apr 16: A Meeting of General House was held today under the Presidentship of B.S. Slathia, President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu to chalk out the future course of action.
Mr.Slathia, while addressing the members present in the General House meeting highlighted the achievements of the present agitation. He criticized the role of the National Media particularly the Republic Channel in portraying the agitation in favour of the accused in the Rassana rape & murder case. Mr. Slathia declared that the Jammu region is facing a serious existential crisis which is under a threat of demographic change for which not only the members of the Association but all the Civil Society have to be united in this behalf. Mr. Slathia further highlighted many other issues which are a challenge to the society of Jammu which has always been Secular, Nationalist & Patriotic He declared that the work shall be resumed temporarily by the lawyers in all the Courts in due deference of the notice dated 13-04-2018 issued by the Supreme Court of India and also the request made by the Bar Council of India and Registrar General of the High Court of J&K. He however, declared that the agitation would be intensified in furtherance of General House Body Resolution dated 04-04-2018 and with the latest mandate of the Civil Society Group on 15-04-2018, with new ways and means for which an Action Committee would be constituted in this behalf.
Mr. Slathia thanked all the members of the Association especially the young lawyers and the Civil Society Groups for extending full support and cooperation in launching the said agitation. It was unanimously resolved in the said General House meeting that the work in the Hon'ble High Court, District Courts, Revenue Courts & Tribunals be resumed henceforth till further decision is taken in this behalf. However, the agitation would be intensified further with various ways and means as suggested by Mr. Slathia.
Mr. Sunil Sethi, Senior Advocate & Mr. K.S. Johal Sr. Advocate & Rajinder Jamwal Advocate, also addressed the meeting and shared their valuable views .
All the office bearers including Sachin Gupta, Vice President, Prem Sadotra, General Secretary, Himanshu Sharma, Joint Secretary & Chetan Misri, Treasurer & office bearers of Young Lawyers Association Daljeet Singh Manhas, President, & Vice President Pardeep Majotra were also present in the General House meeting .
