I have a wholesome relationship with my dad: Deepika

Deepika has always been vocal about her close bond with her father. On this Father's day when asked if she was her dad's little angel or his strongest support, the actress shared, “I think it’s a little bit of both. I would say that we have a complete relationship.
Well in certain situations I am a little girl, but sometimes I stand up to the occasion and support my dad, be it emotionally or otherwise. Dad and I quite often joke with each other, we pull each others’ leg. During my growing up years, he would sometimes reprimand me, and at times he would be forced to lock me up in the store room, because I would misbehave that much. From father to friend, we share many relationships. That's why I believe I have a wholesome relationship with my dad."
Deepika was very young when she left Her hometown Bangalore and shifted to Mumbai, and that's when she transformed from being daddy's little angel to a strong supporter. She’s considered one of the highest paid actresses in the country, but doesn't mean she takes all her decisions by herself. She still likes to have her parents’ advice on matters sundry.
She says, “My parents’ approval matters a lot. In that sense for me, in every aspect of my life, their approval or disapproval matters and keeping them in a loop is very important. I know I have their blessings. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t have my parents as a support system. If I had to constantly worry about what my parents are thinking or if they’re okay or upset with my career choices, I don’t think I would have had the same journey. I am not saying it would have altered the way things turned out for me, but I do believe that my parents’ support and encouragement has had a huge influence in my life. I like to keep them informed about everything I do.
They never really interfere in my work or my other professional pursuits. In fact, throughout my career, they have hardly been seen around me.
They trust the people I work with, they gave me the freedom to go to another city to live. They trust that I would make the right choices at the right time.
And of course, as parents, they have been there through every step of the way, imparting life experiences, imparting knowledge and whatever it is that they think will enrich or nourish my life or my decisions. But they've also left my life's decisions to me.”
She’s one of the most sought after actresses in the world, and naturally Deepika travels a lot and even picks up gifts for her dad, from around the globe.
But she feels the most important part is spending time with him. She says, “I think the time that we spend together is most special.
And I genuinely see their joy when they get some time to see me. It's become a joke of sorts in our house, the way dad walks in and gives a broad smile every time he sees me there.
We don’t see him smile that way too often and it really feels like it comes from within. Whenever I go to our home in Bangalore, he puts all his commitments aside to spend time with me.
Mom jokes that when I’m around, dad doesn’t feel the need to work or go to his office.
All he wants to do is be around. He wants to be available for me and there’s no agenda, it’s not like we are going out anywhere or have any special plans. But he just likes to be there.
