SMVDU faculty delivers talk at Lancaster University

Katra: Dr. Rakesh Kumar, faculty member, School of Mathematics at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, delivered a talk in the 7th meeting of EURO working group on StochasticModeling "Stochmod 2018" at Lancaster University, UK from 13th-15thJune, 2018.Dr. Kumar's talk was on "An M/M/1/N queuing model with self regulatory servers and retention of reneging customers". The work was motivated by the important applications of queuing model in modelling the order picking systems with impatient customers, and in manufacturing systems with flexible service rates. The three-day long conference was attended by hundred renowned mathematicians,statisticians and operations research experts from all over the world.
There were a number of very informative keynote addresses and talks. The conference was rather focussed on stochastic models in queuing theory. The conference visit was fully funded under Professional Devel-opment Assistance (PDA) scheme of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, as reported Dr. Kumar. Further, he is extremely thankful to the university authorities for allowing and supporting him to attend this conference, and getting this enriching experience.
