Preparedness for Amit Shah’s visit reviewed

JAMMU, Jun 21: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Yudhvir Sethi today said BJP's origin lies in Bharatiya Jana Sangh, formed in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mukherjee and ever since then it has played a key role in national integration and never worked for attaining or sticking to power. The recent development wherein BJP opted to walk out of power is primarily aimed at not compromising on issues like country's integrity, sovereignty and welfare of its people.
Addressing party workers here today while reviewing preparedness for coming visit of party chief Amit Shah to Jammu on the occasion of Balidan Divas of Syama Prasad Mukherjee falling on June 23, Yudhvir Sethi said situation in Kashmir calls for a stringent action by security forces whose morale is upbeat and anyone trying to tame them will be doing great injustice to the nation and its people. So far as development is concerned BJP did not turn its back on people but ensured that all three regions are developed equally.
He said BJP had always been defending country's borders and acted as soldiers without uniforms. There cannot be any compromise on security of our borders and merely for petty political gains the party cannot stay in power as well. Asking party cadres to turn out in large numbers, Yudhvir Sethi said party chief Amit Shah's visit is going to be of a great significance. He said BJP is today strongest and largest party in the country which has resolved to work for people and their welfare.
Remembering Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Yudhvir Sethi said he was founder of right wing nationalist Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in 1951. He was also the president of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha. It was under his leadership that in the 1952 elections, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) won three seats in the Parliament of India, including Mukherjee's. Mukherjee during his visit to Kashmir in 1953 arrested at Lakhanpur and died in Kashmir under mysterious circumstances. His sacrifice didn't go waste as ID card rule was revoked owing to his efforts.
Referring to past three years, Yudhvir Sethi said best of works were done by the party leaders and all state as well as central schemes were implemented in letter and spirit. Good governance and transparent system remains historic achievements of BJP during this tenure, he said adding that BJP will continue to work for people and strengthen party cadres in all three regions of the state in years to come.
