JKAACLorganizes Cultural Programme in Sidh Baba Goria Mela

JAMMU, Jun 24: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized a cultural programme during Annual Sidh Goria Swankha Mela at Swankha in Samba District of the state. Sh. Mukesh Sharma, BDO, Ram Garh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. Jang S. Verman senior artist and columnist on art & culture was the special guest on this occasion. The folk and traditional singers and musicians presented their cultural items in tune with the need and spirit of the spiritual get- together in the week long mela at Swankha. The artists in traditional dresses presented folk and traditional music forms like Kaarkan, Bhajan, Kissa Pooran Bhagat, Bhajan on Sidh Baba and so on. A large number of devotees gathered in the Mela listened to the musical items and applauded the items presented by various music parties of the area.
The music parties those presented folk and traditional music included Raj Kumar & Party, Ravi Dutta & Party, Kewal Kumar & Party, Nav Usha & Party, Krishan Lal & Party and Subhash Chander & Party. These parties belong to the areas situated near Swankha in Vijaypur and Samba Areas.
Mahant Bhola Nath, the Head of the Temple blessed the artists and the guests of the programme. The Chief Guest of the programme Sh. Mukesh Sharma, BDO, Ram Garh in District Samba appreciated the role of the Academy for providing plat form to the local performers and artists and promoting and preserving the local art & cultural shades of the heritage. He congratulated the local music parties for presenting spirited musical programme dedicated to Baba Sidh Goria.
Earlier, welcoming the audience and guests, S. Popinder Singh Paras, offg. Dy. Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages & Incharge of the event highlighted the programmes and activities of the Cultural Academy which is emphasizing promoting and preserving traditions and heritage of the people and communities in the state particularly in the respective areas as the state has a rich variety of art & culture forms Sh. Ashok Sharma and Sat Salarvi anchored the cultural programme. Sh. Sanjay Mehta assisted the cultural programme.
