NIA appoints female officers to interrogate separatist leader Asiya Andrabi

NEW DELHI, Jul 11: NIA has put DIG Sonia Narang in-charge of the case. Considering the sensitivity of the case, NIA has appointed female officers to interrogate AsiyaAndrabi and her female associates National Investigation Agency (NIA) has appointed female sleuths to interrogate separatist leader AsiyaAndrabi and her two associates. NIA recently got custody of Andrabi along with Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fahmeeda recently.
Top woman officer DIG Sonia Narang has been put in charge for the case.
Sources said considering the sensitivity of the case, the decision to appoint female cops to handle the case has been taken. The trio were arrested in a new case registered by NIA in April this year for carrying out secessionist activity and waging war against India. The investigating officer for the case is SP VikasKatheria, but female officers have been put on the team to elucidate information from the 51-year-old female separatist leader.
AsiyaAndrabi and her two associates have been charged under various section 120B, 121, 121A, 124A, 153A, 153B & 505 of Indian Penal Code(IPC) and sections 18, 20, 38 & 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
"AsiyaAndrabi and her associates have been openly propagating anti-India sentiment, a charge she and her associates have not denied,"besides, there are evidences of the female separatist leader openly flouting laws by raising Pakistani flags and even inciting female stone pelters in the open," a top officer told India Today.
AsiyaAndrabi is founder of a proscribed organisation Dikhtaran-E-Millat(DEM). The organisation has been proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Andrabi is accused of organising anti-India rallies. Her name had first emerged in Kashmir terror funding case in 2017. Andrabi was recently remanded to 10 days police custody.
This is one of the first key arrests made by the central agency since Governor's rule was imposed in the state. Sources have not ruled out further arrests in the case.
The agency says Andrabi is using various media platforms to spread her hateful speeches. DEM openly advocates secession of Jammu & Kashmir from India and has also called for Jihad and use of violence against India. According to NIA, Andrabi and her associates have reached out to other banned terrorist organisation and criminally conspiring to wage war against India.
According to NIA, DEM is promoting enmity, hatred and ill-will between different communities on the grounds of religion and is doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.
AasiyaAndrabi has solicited help from proscribed terrorist organizations and along with her associates, has criminally conspired to wage war against India.
