Plantation drive held at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Jul 18: A plantation drive was organized today by the CRPF 187 Bn in collaboration with Social Forestry here at BattalBalian.
District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar was the Chief Guest and Deputy Inspector General CRPF P C Jha presided over the event.
The programme commenced with the plantation of a sapling by the Chief Guest followed by planting of saplings by other officers and Jawans of CRPF.
Highlighting the importance of forests, the DDC advocated mass involvement in the plantation of trees for maintaining ecological balance around habitations. The need of the hour is to protect the environment by planting new trees and taking care of the existing green cover, he added.
The DDC lauded the efforts of DFO, Social Forestry and asked him to launch more such plantation drives to enhance the green cover in the district.
In his address, DIG CRPF said that there is no future without trees and enumerated the importance of forest cover in maintaining balance in nature.
He pitched for taking the plantation campaign across the district.
DFO Social forestry Jugal Gupta, Comma-ndant CRPF, Harinder Kumar, Officers and CRPF men participated in the drive.
