Mouni Roy is Bollywood’s latest favourite girl. After Gold and Brahmastra, she has signed a new film opposite Rajkummar Rao. She will be essaying the character of Rajkummar’s wife in Made In China.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, “#NewsAlert: Mouni Roy to play Rajkummar Rao’s wife in quirky comedy #MadeInChina... Directed by Mikhil Musale... Produced by Dinesh Vijan... Starts Sept 2018 in Mumbai, followed by Gujarat and China.”
The movie will go on the floors in September and will be shot in Gujarat and China. Helmed by Mikhail Musale,it will be produced by Dinesh Vijan. Mikhil Musale earlier directed Wrong Side Raju which bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film in Gujarati.
Rajkummar plays a struggling Gujarati businessman while Mouni will be seen as a Mumbai girl who moves to Ahmedabad after marrying him. “We wanted someone who’d connect with the heartland and Mouni, a typical Indian beauty, has a huge fan following. She has a strong personality but gentle eyes and is a good dancer which is essential for the role as her character has a passion for classical Indian dance having learnt it.
She has started working on her Gujarati dialect,” said Dinesh Vijan, film’s producer.
In an interview, Rajkummar talked about the changing face of Indian cinema. He said, “Look at Shah Rukh sir play a dwarf in Zero or Aamir sir portray a 50-year-old father to three daughters in Dangal. Even Salman sir has done films such as Tubelight and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
And Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] challenges himself with every third film and appears as a new and different guy. Akshay Kumar too has been doing it for a long time, so all of us are into it together. That’s why I feel Indian cinema is surely going through a lovely change.
